The UPecon R4D team visited the Pampanga province in February 2017, and met with the key staff of PhilHealth Central Luzon Office and visited RHUs in the municipalities of Angeles City, San Fernando, Mexico and Lubao.
In these visits, the team assessed the status of PhilPEN implementation, and the distribution and availability of the four molecules (amlodipine, metropolol, metformin and losartan) from the DOH’s Hypertension and Diabetes Club. The team also discussed with the staff of these RHUs whether locals will be receptive to a lottery as an incentive to visit a health facility, and these visits led to further refinement of the study design, and selection of another site for research study.
